Laptop Lending
Policies |
| |
Upon
check-out borrowers are required to sign a Laptop Computer
Liability Agreement. Borrowers must agree to assume
responsibility for the laptop while it is checked-out to
them and may pay fees incurred for any damages or
replacement while the laptop is in their possession.
|
| |
● |
Laptops are
available to current Title V/TRiO participants who have a
"good standing" rating with their respective program. You
must meet with your Peer Advisor/Counselor before
you are eligible to borrow a laptop or to be put on the
waiting list. |
| |
● |
Laptops are
available on a first come, first served basis. If there is
no available laptops, your name will be added to a waiting
list. Laptop agreements are renewable for additional time by
getting approval from the Laptop Coordinator and if there is
no one waiting for a laptop on the waiting list. |
| |
● |
Laptops
borrowed from the Title V/TRiO Laptop Lending Library are
due within 2 weeks of the time borrowed. Laptops are due on
the due date listed on the agreement during the Laptop
Lending Library Hours of Operation (see above). |
| |
● |
All laptops are
configured for easy access to the TAMUCC network and
internet through network data ports available at most
University locations or through use of wireless technology
found throughout campus. |
| |
● |
The University
reserves the right to recall the equipment at any time. The
student/staff agrees to return the equipment to Texas A&M
University-Corpus Christi, Title V/TRiO office on or before
the date specified on the contract and/or 48 hours
immediately following a request by the TAMUCC Title V and/or
TRiO Program representatives. |
| |
● |
The
student/staff is responsible for loss, theft, or damage to
the equipment. All damages must be reported to the TAMUCC
Title V/TRiO office at (361) 825-3199 and repairs shall be
made through authorized TAMUCC Computer Services personnel
only. |
| |
● |
It is the
student's/staff's responsibility to give a written notice to
the Title V/TRiO office at (361) 825-3199 of any change in
their status as a TAMUCC student/staff "in good standing" as
well as any address or phone number changes during the
period of this agreement or until the equipment is returned
to the TAMUCC Title V/TRiO office. |
| |
● |
If the
student/staff is not using the equipment for educational
purposes, or fails to abide by any of the terms of the
Laptop License Agreement, student/staff then agrees to
surrender the equipment upon notification and is
subject to lose any rights to continue participation in the
Title V/TRiO Laptop Lending Program. |
| |
● |
The
student/staff understands that the equipment is property of
the Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi Title V/TRiO,
and if the student/staff fails to return the
equipment by the agreed return date or 48 hours after a
request, the equipment will be reported stolen
and the student/staff is subject to criminal prosecution of
a state felony and/or could be punished by confinement in a
state jail for any term of not more than two years or
less than 180 days. |

Hints for Laptop Use
|
| |
While laptop
computers are made to withstand the rigors of portable use,
they are delicate electronic equipment and require certain
care to insure proper operation. The following guidelines
are provided to help you get the most from your use of a
laptop computer: |
| |
● |
The computer
should be turned off and placed in its collapsed or folded
position any time that it is to be moved. Always place the
computer in its carrying case before transporting it |
| |
● |
Do not plug in
or unplug an external device such as a mouse unless the
computer and the external device are both turned off |
| |
● |
Since a laptop
computer contains a magnetic hard disk, do not expose it to
any magnetic fields that could damage the contents of the
hard disk |
| |
● |
To ensure user
privacy and for maintenance purposes, all user files will be
removed from the laptops' hard disks after each use. The
Title V/TRIO
Programs and their employees are not responsible for files
remaining on the disk once a laptop is returned by the user,
or for any loss of or damage to a user's files during the
loan period. |
